[LMBTO] "Let Me Be The One" Show 4 - P4 Nästa & Paula Seling & Ovi...

Of all the pictures that I took at Eurostarz, this was perhaps the one that told me the most about how Paula and Ovi interact - even though he has performed with her so many times before, he seems to watch her in the same way we do when she is about to go for those high notes - totally spellbound!  The pair took up a fair chunk of my fourth "Let Me Be The One" show on BSR FM 103.4 - at least a third of it, truth be told - but I was delighted to put their interview on the air and play "Miracle", seeing that "Playing With Fire" was in show 2.
It was back to the pre-records as I was working on Tuesday this week but everything was done and dusted Sunday just gone - it also gave me the opportunity to meet Bradley Stoke's own Blues radio host, Steve Hoare, as he prepared for his show.  He knew all about Heavy Pettin' and their demise after the 1987 UK NF but he wasn't into Eurovision that much - I did struggle to come up with much in the way of blues music for him that has been at the Contest other than Hungary's 2007 entry, the excellent "Unsubstantial Blues" by Magdi Rúzsa.  Now that is one to play on my radio show very soon...

Show four has played already on Tuesday 28th August - I have decided to release the Mixcloud version after the first airing, and before the repeat show at 11pm (midnight CET) on Thursday, now as a matter of course.  If you prefer listening when you want and really aren't a 'night owl', here is the Mixcloud of the show:

The theme of show 4?

The playlist (if you include the two part interview as something to be 'played') is this:

"Miracle" - Paula Seling & Ovi
Part 1 of Paula & Ovi's interview
"Titta Vi Flyger" - Stiko Per Larsson
"Friday Night Club Escape" - Michi
"That's When We All Come Falling Down" - MIAH
"Dance You Off" - Benjamin Ingrosso
"This Is My Life" - Anna Bergendahl
Part 2 of Paula & Ovi's interview
"Fading Light" - Ewelina Westin
"Lost Forever" - The Lovers Of Valdaro
"Let Me Be The One" - The Shadows

I have been a fan of P4 Nästa for a couple of seasons now which seems weird even to a Swedish friend of mine, who had to have the radio contest pointed out to her as she had never heard of it!  To be honest, I was dying to play Michi and MIAH on my show and this week gave me the perfect opportunity to do so, along with Benjy and Anna.  Hopefully you enjoyed the mix of chat and music - let me know either through this blog, my social media or via the Bradley Stoke Radio media (@bradleystokefm).
Show 5 will have the second interview from Eurostarz, that being with Esther Hart, who sung for The Netherlands in 2003 and was a really fascinating guest who gave me information about a Eurovision event that I would be interested in attending next year!  Now I was planning to play music from nations who had previously been at Eurovision but were going to be 'no shows' in Israel but something happened a day or so ago, too late to include in show four, that I want to focus on in show five.  The founder of Brotherhood Of Man, Tony Hiller, passed away late on Sunday 26th August and he co-wrote one of the most successful Eurovision songs ever with Martin Lee and Lee Sheridan, "Save All Your Kisses For Me".  He also wrote several other UK NF entries and I hope to be able to play some of those as a tribute to him next time - hope you give it a listen next week.  In the meantime, in memory of one of the most prolific and successful UK songwriters and producers:
RIP Tony Hiller 1927 - 2018
