Anyone else remember this moment at the London Eurovision Party in 2016?  Scott Mills wishing Joe and Jake all the best for Stockholm a month later - unfortunately 24th was all they had to show for it at the end but that did show that the BBC could resurrect the National Final format successfully, with public and professional songwriting involvement providing six decent songs for television viewers to vote on.  We know that the UK will be going to Tel Aviv in 2019 and we know that Eurovision:You Decide will go ahead for a fourth time - I also knew that this had to be the subject of my next radio show!  Show 8 is a mixture of some songs from the previous three NFs plus Eurovision entries linked to the new Music Consultant for the BBC, Greig Watts (left):
You therefore have quite the mix of songs here - not only UK ones but also from Norway, Czechia, Poland and Sweden:

As there isn't an interview in the show this week, there are lots of Eurovision tracks:

Joe And Jake - "You're Not Alone"
Lucie Jones - "Never Give Up On You"
SuRie - "Storm" (Live)
Karl William Lund - "Miracle"
Nate Simpson - "What Are We Made Of"
Agnete - "Icebreaker"
Martina Bárta - "My Turn"
Kasia Moś - "Flashlight"
Debbi - "High On Love"
Renaida - "All The Feels"
Gromee ft. Lukas Meijer - "Light Me Up"
Asanda - "Legends"
Goldstone - "I Feel The Love"
The Shadows - "Let Me Be The One"

As you can see, all the winners from the last three EYDs are there plus some of the more relevant "runners up".  I suspect that you will be surprised how many nations that DWB Music's songwriting teams have provided the songs for and also how wide and varied the musical genres are.  I am fortunate to have been conversing with the new Music Consultant for the BBC for so long now - I am delighted that Greig will now be able to be involved in the process of matching song to singer and I hope that he and the rest of the BBC Eurovision team will have some amazing songs to put into edition four of Eurovision:You Decide.  There is another month for those tracks to be submitted - here's hoping...
The plan for next week is to focus my Let Me Be The One spotlight on the OGAE Second Chance Contest - readers of the blog already know where my votes have gone but there are potentially new fans out there who have only listened to the radio show...
They deserve to hear what Spain should have sent to Lisbon too...
