Our Eurobash 2018 Special Guests

SuRie, Poli Genova and Svante Stockselius were superb at the OGAE UK event on Saturday 6th October in Leeds and had just finished their Guest Panel slot with Monty Moncrieff MBE before being swamped by fans wanting to have pictures taken with them!  This was my fifth Bash, having been to the 2014/15/16/17 ones, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day - seeing we were next door to Leeds Station, we travelled all the way from the Quiz, through the chat, past the Video vote, onto SuRie and Poli's sets, via Eurostars and finishing at the disco!  This week's radio show focuses solely on Eurobash, almost exclusively on this year's show, all bar some references to previous Eurostars (effectively "Stars In Their Eyes" without the smoke and sliding doors).
We had two top notch singers with us who gave superb performances and I linked two songs to both, as I did to Svante, despite his administrative role!  The rest of the show gave a nod to Leeds plus the excellent work that our amazing fans do in honouring some of the most iconic Eurovision performances through Eurostars itself - I played the original versions on the show but gave due praise to the fan(s) who made that entry stick in my head.

This week's playlist looked like this...

Nicky Byrne - "Starlight"
Loïc Nottet - "Rhythm Inside"
Blanche - "City Lights"
Poli Genova - "One Lifetime Is Not Enough"
Poli Genova - "Na Inat"
Olsen Brothers - "Fly On The Wings Of Love"
Sahlene - "Runaway"
Tolmachevy Sisters - "Shine"
Verka Serduchka - "Dancing Lasha Tumbai"
Knez - "Adio"
Jacques Houdek - "My Friend"
Ani Lorak - "Shady Lady"
The Shadows - "Let Me Be The One"

And the show?  Here you go:

One thing you might notice when you listen to this is that hopefully it sounds more natural - whilst chatting with JP from Eurovision Radio International, he suggested broadcasting in a more freeform way, so I've given it a go.  As for content, I am sure that somebody will come up with a UK Eurovision artist from Leeds but it gave me the chance to play "Starlight" and the rest of the list goes in twos and threes, so to speak.  I hope that this show provided some pleasant memories for those who were there this weekend and perhaps will encourage those who weren't there or who aren't yet OGAE UK members to join the fun in 2019!
We are onto show ELEVEN next week and as there is nothing happening yet in the Eurovision world for 2019, apart from most nations having revealed that they will be in Tel Aviv next year, I thought that I might use some material from one of my past blog articles, that being on...
EARWORMS!

I made a list of ten Eurovision songs that, whenever I hear them, they stick in my head for hours and won't go away but that is in a good way!  There are a couple of them that I have played on the show already so I will avoid doing that but there are more than enough examples to play and also I'll provide an 'antidote' too.  Of course if there is any major news over the next few days as far as the ESC is concerned, I'll be changing my playlist.
If not, expect this lady to feature somewhere as one of those tunes that just keep repeating over and over in my head:

You agree with me?
Just "Say Yay!"
