Welcome to Melodi Grand Prix 2019!
There are ELEVEN entries from Norway on the show this week, including my favourite from last year, one half of which is having another go this year - probably obvious who that is. Show 26 sees the breaking of my self-imposed policy of not playing a Eurovision track that I had played before on the show, mainly because we are now getting into the meat of the season and it was obvious that I was going to play a NF song that ended up winning their show! I therefore indulged myself with my favourite ever entry to start off that process, a song I played all the way back in show 1 - it tied in nicely with the first winning song to be repeated though, here is the playlist for this show:
"L'oiseau et l'enfant" - Marie Myriam
"Roi" - Bilal Hassani
"Friend Of A Friend" - Lake Malawi
"Taboo" - Christabelle
"Broken Promises" - Duncan de Moor
"Let Me Love You" - Tamara, Vrčak and Adrijan
"Lost And Found" - Eye Cue
"Data Dust" - Ella Hooper
"Zero Gravity" - Kate Miller-Heidke
"Je ne sais quoi" - Hera Björk
"This Is My Life" - Euroband
"Cold" - Vera Turcanu
"We All" - Bogi
"Pioneer" - Freddie
"You Got Me" - Stella Mwangi & Alexandra Rotan
"Spirit In The Sky" - KEiiNO
"Fake It" - Hank von Hell
"Holla" - Anna-Lisa Kumoji
"Mr Unicorn" - D'Sound
"Hold Me Down" - Carina Dahl
"Sing For You" - Erlend Bratland
"We Try" - Chris Medina
"Feel" - Ingrid Berg Mehus
"The Bubble" - Adrian Jørgensen
"En Livredd Mann" - Mørland
"Love" - Sasha Son
"Taken By A Stranger" - Lena
"Good Girl" - Pænda
The second half of the show is 'Norway Central' but other nations get a song or two, including Australia, Hungary, Iceland and FYROM / North Macedonia, the nation of these guys that I chatted to in Amsterdam in 2018:
I have to say that I'm still getting used to 'blonde Marija' (as she is now) but Bojan still looks much the same! There is also material from Duncan, Tamara and at the last minute, given that her participation was only announced a few hours before the show went to air, Pænda from Austria. Potentially lots of coloured hair this year:
So show 27 will be six months since I started my radio show "Let Me Be The One" on 7th August 2018 - hopefully those that have been with me since then have enjoyed the ride, the music and maybe even the talking! I don't plan to do anything majorly different apart from what you've heard over the past four live shows - two hours of current music from any NF I can get, past Eurovision entries that tie in nicely and hopefully, fingers crossed, the UK NF entries! That last one is all dependant on whether the songwriters can supply me with them before next Tuesday - if not, I have a few other songs from three of the artists but I would love to promote my NF in the same way that I have done with Czechia and Norway. I have also found my favourite track of this season so far to play plus there will be an instantly recognisable bit of music from Finland to play, as UMK threw us all a total curveball with an announcement about their artist an hour before today's show:

Don't worry!
It sounds as though the record lack of words in "Nocturne" won't be beaten -
he's got somebody with him to sing!
