There were two big events for me in August and this was the first - watching Anna Bergendahl perform at Eurofest at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern on Friday 9th. We were all hyped to see her and she was still so amazed to see us all sing along to every word of her set - it was the first part of a very hectic 24 hours for Anna, as she had to leave Eurofest fairly promptly after singing, so she was ready to catch a flight to Sweden to perform twice on the Saturday! I missed out on a 'Meet & Greet' style pose with her but I was fortunate enough to interview her before the start of the whole event.

Regular listeners to the radio show and readers of the blog will know that I spoke to her before The London Eurovision Party too (that is where the above picture is from) - she recognised me, always a good thing (I think). She liked the fact that I was wearing a Swedish football shirt on Eurofest night (a little thing of mine for interviews with a specific artist) and that is why the following interview has that little snippet of chat before we got into it properly - have a listen...
It has already aired on my show but I know that some fans want to just the interview on its own - hope you enjoyed it. I think that everyone knows that Anna has been working non-stop since her performances at Melodifestivalen and the fact that she has got her confidence back was good to hear. She still got emotional on stage in London and perhaps she'll never get used to the fact that us Eurovision and MF fans will always love her!
I was also delighted that what I read in Wiki WAS true - Anna DID sing at York Cathedral when she was young but the actual facts were far more interesting than I thought they would be. Asking to sing her dad if she could sing Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" there on the spur of the moment, her first public performance, was an amazing thing to be told - I really love researching these interviews and finding out that some of these more obscure points are in fact true and they lead to really unique comments!
Just one other thing to say on my part - Anna really worked the room and looked truly amazing too! I thoroughly enjoyed yet another excellent night at Eurofest and look forward to many more - as for Anna, if any of you get the chance to see her elsewhere, grab the chance as she gives a great show and sounds divine. Her singing 'mojo' is back - I wonder...

Will we one day see Anna Bergendahl again on a MF stage?
I'd love to see her get back to Eurovision, if I'm honest!
