Seeing that Hooverphonic already have their own article connected to their announcement about representing Belgium in Rotterdam next year, I thought that it was only fair to let Spain's selection take the lead in this post...
Blas Cantó
Another internal selection, another experienced act within their own nation and one who can definitely sing live (I only have studio versions of two of his latest releases on the show) - Blas looks great and seems to be the 'whole package'. It is a big step away from using Operación Triunfo for the past two Contests - unfortunately for that show, any interest that Eurovision fans had in it will quickly dissipate, now that Blas has been chosen. I will do a separate article about the unexpected selection for Spain but he and Hooverphonic do have two tracks in this week's show. Who is also there? Have a listen...
First hour focuses on what has been happening (there is enough material to utilise if you look hard enough), second hour is mainly new releases plus some tracks from those artists who were at the OGAE Spain Congress this weekend. Not sure who you heard? Here's the playlist:
"Looking For Stars" - Hooverphonic
"Badaboum" - Hooverphonic
"Si te vas" - Blas Cantó
"Volver a bailar" - Blas Cantó
"What If" - Dina Garipova
"In The Name Of Love" - Monika Kuszyńska
"Allez leur dire" - Silvàn Areg
"Love Is Forever" - Leonora
"Stenohoria mou" - Vangelis Kakouritis ft. Phoebus
"A Drop Of You" - Ian Stratis
"Viszlát Nyár" - AWS
"Tausend Fenster" - Karel Gott
"Beg, Steal or Borrow" - The New Seekers
"Love Is Blue" - Vicky Leandros
"De eerste keer" - Maxine & Franklin Brown
"E theve" - Inis Neziri
"Jana Mori" - Eye Cue
"Starry Skies" - Saara Aalto
"Jealous" - Jessica Mauboy
"My narushaem" - Ani Lorak
"What's Up" - Minus One
"Constigo Hasta El Final (With You Until The End)" - ESDM
"Colgado de un sueño" - Serafin Zubiri
"La chica que yo quiero (Made in Spain)" - La Década Prodigiosa
"Vuelve conmigo" - Anabel Conde
There are some real 'Let Me Be The One' favourites in there - The New Seekers, Eye Cue, Saara Aalto (who was especially popular with the fandom this week) and I even had Silvàn Areg like the tweet that I posted to flag up his song was next! I am grateful to all past Eurovision artists who are helping fill the two hours with their new material - there could be more but I tend to play those that I personally like. Hope you enjoyed the show - next week will be all about the event I will be going to on Friday - Eurobash 2019!

- "Why I Love It" - request a Eurovision/NF song and tell me why you love it so much, preferably via an mp3.
- "Did I Really Just Hear That?" - have you heard a Eurovision/NF song being played somewhere unexpected? Tell me when and where, preferably via mp3.
Send the info to eurovision@bradleystokeradio.com and you will be on the show!
