Will VICTORIA be favourite to win Eurovision 2021?
She'll have to be there with another song (courtesy of the EBU Reference Group deciding that all 2020 songs cannot be carried over into next year's Contest) but the quality of her singing and the song "Tears Getting Sober" this year would suggest that there is a great chance of that being the case. This week's show highlighted all ten artists that had been 'given the nod' for next year, plus a play for those three that are unlikely to be there. Have a listen, it will all become a lot clearer:
And here is the excellent music that was on the show this week...

Now you will have realised pretty quickly that my vocals sounded a bit different to normal and that is because the radio station is out of bounds at the moment, due to the spread of COVID-19. I am fortunate enough to have a Zoom H1n that has not only allowed me to get great interviews with artists and fans but also it acts well as a stand in microphone for home recording! The show wasn't as scripted as when I do it live, mainly because I can stop and start after adding each song into the recording. I hope you enjoyed it all, despite the sad news that almost every song was linked to.![]()
Apart from finding out 25% of next year's artists in one show (remember how we crawled through the first few months of the 2020 season not knowing hardly any singers? We know that Jeangu, Blas, Go-A, Tornike, Efendi, Stefania, Hooverphonic, Gjon's Tears, VICTORIA and Eden are going), I was able to play a few revamps, including the beautiful orchestral rendition of "Voda" by Ana Soklič that I feel would have given her a better chance of a place in the Rotterdam Final. Add to that this lady's Eurovision song:![]()
(Ruth Lorenzo gave us the best routine at Euroclub in Tel Aviv, in my opinion) plus Nanne's tribute to James Corden (and that is the only time his name will ever be mentioned in this blog) and you had a pretty decent show, if I do say so myself! I actually listened to it whilst it was airing and it was a novel experience, seeing I hadn't pre-recorded my show since the New Year's Day show of 2019! We will all have to get used to it as I can't see the COVID-19 pandemic going away anytime soon - so what will be in show 86?![]()

A bit of an eclectic mix there, I'm sure you would agree! Samanta, Daði and Marina (KRUTЬ) will all be on the show for differing reasons, the strands being artists who want to go to Eurovision 2021 plus those who have been entertaining us with online live concerts. I thought that I'd be playing my rankings for 2020 soon but I will try to get as close to when Eurovision would have been before doing that (it would potentially be a 3 hour show!). There is one extra joy next week - remember this guy?Hard to forget - Conan will be become a record holder when we move past May 16th and will hold a particular 'title' until 2021...
Any guesses as to what that might be?
