June, July and August are barren months for Eurovision alumni...
Support your favs like Vanja Radovanović - they are all still producing music!
That was me chatting with Vanja at the Eurovision in Concert 2018 Press Event in Amsterdam - he sung "Inje" there but has a new album out, "Baš je glupo što sam mrtav", that translates as "I’m so stupid I’m dead". That really matches his sense of humour and the title track appears on this week's show, along with SIXTEEN other newish tracks from Eurovision and National Final artists. Have a listen if you missed it on Tuesday night:
And here are the tracks played - only four related to news from this week, the rest are all music that keeps the artist's world afloat and I want to support them as much as possible. Have a look at the playlist...
"Adrenalina" (Eurovision edit) - Senhit ft Flo Rida
"Scream" - Sergey Lazarev
"Miss Kiss Kiss Bang" - Alex Swings Oscar Sings!
"Everybody (Little Big Are Back)" - Little Big

"Save Some" - D'Sound & Macy Gray
"Palatul de Crom" - Runa x Nosfe x Timebelle
"Feels" - Brainstorm
"Stronger Every Minute" - Lisa Andreas
"Let Me Be The One" - The Shadows
Yes, they are all tracks that caught MY attention and that might not match your preferences but hopefully it will get you looking at Spotify, YouTube, Deezer plus all the download sites for new music. I do like playing the classics occasionally (admittedly the really old stuff appears when older Eurovision stars pass away) but those are played to distraction elsewhere - my forte out of season is focusing on new stuff as much as I can. Where else would you hear Little Big covering Backstreet Boys? Or Nicki French showing her love for the Tolmachevy Sisters? Or Douwe Bob 'killing' me with a 1:39 long track called 'Jesus'? And when would you hear Macy Gray on a Eurovision radio show?
On LET ME BE THE ONE, that is where!
I have lots more to play so stay tuned for that...
One of the four bits of news this week related to Senhit's #freakytriptorotterdam - she finished the journey with a lovely back stage video, showing the best bits of her time at Eurovision 2021. Having played all the originals that she covered during 2020 and 2021, I am so pleased that she had a great experience (bar a lower than expected Final finish) and she will have a place in my heart for this season. There aren't many other artists who have done so much in the whole year before a Contest - her and Luca Tommassini's visions will be forever to hand on YouTube! So that was this week's show - as you will have heard, I had the great privilege of chatting to one of my favourite artists who sung one of my favourite ever Eurovision entries:
LISA ANDREAS
"STRONGER EVERY MINUTE"
She is the star of Show 148 on Tuesday 15th June - I had a lovely interview with her (as Lisa Jayne Porter), me in the UK, her in Arizona, USA! I found out why her Eurovision song (plus three other versions) were digitally released for the first time now, 17 years after her 5th place in Istanbul, and her experiences there and at the Cypriot National Final. You can hear her interview, her songs and maybe one or two of her favourites from 2004 too...
Join me next week at 8pm (9pm CET, midday MST)
for my first Eurovision radio interview with Lisa...
Trust me, you will love it - we did!
