Anna Sahlene wowed us all at Amsterdam Calling...
Can she win the OGAE Second Chance Contest
for Estonia in 2022?

So we have reached the third and final instalment of the playlist of all 27 entries for this year's OGAE SCC - nine more songs including Estonia's entry "CHAMPION" by Anna.  She will be one of the favourites this year but it is quite an open contest.  Have a listen to the show first to hear not only those nine but also the winner back in 2014, Helena Paparizou and "Survivor" for Sweden, the first Contest I was UK Juror for:

And the show playlist...

Hopefully you now have an idea of how you are going to score your favourites this year and vote within your OGAE club - have one last look at the YouTube playlist I put together:

Once we have gone past 13th August, when the UK submission ends, I will put my top ten in that show's article and maybe even play some of my choices!  One other loose end connected with this year's list - the Norwegian entry is also the favourite National Final song of one of the fans of the show...
Northkid with "Someone" for Diana.  That worked out well and they were also part of Allsang på Grensen, the weekly Norwegian music show that linked in with Johnny Logan, Ulrikke and Tone Damli on this week's playlist.  The most recent edition of Allsång på Skansen provided you with Tomas Ledin and Theoz, whilst Lotta på Liseberg had Alvaro Estrella, John Lundvik and Linda Pritchard on.  I hope you are enjoying the music that is linked to those shows - if nothing else, they are allowing me to play a lot of this year's Melodifestivalen that I didn't have the chance to cover earlier this year during National Final season!
Now one of the tracks played on the show was by this singer, Noa Kirel.  I expected to make part of this article an introduction to her, her music and the fact that she was meant to be Israel's artist for 2023.  In the space of 24 hours, that has gone from that position to her no longer being a definite, so I will talk about her another time, as soon as she is 100% confirmed as being one of those at Eurovision next year (hopefully next week).
Yes, this was the out-of-the-blue announcement last Saturday at Bristol Pride that Bristol City Council and YTL Arena Bristol will be putting together a bid for Eurovision 2023.  Here is what Marvin Rees, Bristol's Mayor, said:

Bristol does have an International Airport, hotels in the area and transport access to the proposed venue but the big part of any bid, the venue, would be similar scenario-wise to Copenhagen 2014:
That is the main Hangar of the Brabazon Hanger complex at Filton Airfield on the outskirts of Bristol - you can see the rest of the complex at this link.  The difference to 2014 is that DR in Denmark had the choice of the Boxen Arena with nothing else around it or Copenhagen with everything but The Parken (at the time) - UK 2023 has many cities with all of the requirements AND an all purpose Arena already in place.  2024 is the official date for the YTL Arena Bristol to be open and I still think that is a more realistic time frame - still, nothing ventured, nothing gained!  Whether Mayor Marvin and YTL stay in the race when the bid books appear, that is another matter - given that I live 2.5 miles from the Hangars, I will keep a close eye on what is happening with this development!
Next episode show 206 is the closest one to a major event in my personal Eurovision journey...

The NINTH anniversary of this blog!

"Let Me Be The One - Eurovision Through The Ages!" started on July 17th 2013 and has seen it change from my sole connection to the Eurovision world to the accompaniment to my weekly radio show.  I might not use it in the way I did once upon a time, but it still comes into its own over the Eurovision fortnight and it allows me to expand on items that I have mentioned in the show.

How will I celebrate next Tuesday?

I will select an article from each year, play a track related to it and give you an idea of why it sticks out for me.  For instance, my third ever post (this one is #647) on July 24th 2013 was entitled "Could A Simple Ballad Still Win Eurovision?" - Salvador Sobral proved that it could still be done four years later, but at the time this was my all-time pinnacle of simplicity, power and purity:
Anouk will be on next week's celebration...
Join me on the radio show to find out my other blog choices!
