Yet another great special guest at Eurofest
and for LET ME BE THE ONE!
Blanka provided this week's interview
and the gig's excellent
entertainment.
The quarterly extravaganza that is Eurofest is somewhere I try to be and I was delighted that I made it last Friday! Admittedly I didn't know whether I'd have the chance to interview Blanka or not, but 5pm arrived and I got the nod to chat with her after her soundcheck at 8.30pm. The picture with her was after her set itself, as she only wants official pics with her stage look on, which was fair enough (although she looks wonderful 'au naturel' IMHO). As for the interview, you can hear it in this week's show below...
Along with the songs she performed on the night, as you can see from the playlist:
Blanka - "Solo"

Blanka - "Boys Like Toys"
Blanka - "Better"
Teya & Salena - "Who The Hell Is Edgar"
24. Avēnija - "You Said"
Ulrikke - "Honestly"
Will Church - "Hold On"
Lordi - "Scarecrow"
Käärijä - "Cha Cha Cha" (Karaoke)
The Shadows - "Let Me Be The One"
Marcus & Martinus - "Air"
Douwe Bob - "This World Is Our Home"
Elsa Lila - "Evita"
TuralTuranX - "Tell Me More"
Filip Baloš - "Novi plan drugi san"
Monika Linkytė - "Stay"
Måns Zelmerlöw - "Heroes"
Eden - "Happy Birthday"
Whogaux & Karl-Kristian ft Maian - "Have You Now"
Laura Rizzotto - "Funny Girl"
The chat was great with Blanka coming across as a combination of down-to-earth and yet determined to succeed with her career. Her Liverpool journey sounds an overall positive one, once you ignore the haters in her own nation, and she is enjoying what is to come over the coming months and years. She had two dancers with her which is very rare at Eurofest (as you heard in the interview, only Ace Wilder has done that before) and that gave a really visually entertaining set on the night. Here are some of the pictures I took during the evening:
She was happy and smiley throughout the evening - hopefully the next set of artists who will be at Eurofest in October will enjoy it all as much (and perhaps I might get to interview them too):
Of course "Who The Hell Is Edgar" will be on the set list, along with their new track due to come out in August, along with their solo career tracks too. Should make for a superb evening...
Two other items to tidy up from this week's show - I played the last of the 23 OGAE Second Chance Contest 2023 entries this week, which means that you have had the opportunity to listen to them all. I have put together a YouTube playlist for you to reference when you vote - those in the UK club will have had an email on 13th July with a link to where their points can be entered.
September/October will be when the actual Contest takes place - I will let you know who that is on the show!
As I mentioned last week when I published the article actually on the day itself, this blog is now TEN YEARS OLD. July 17th 2013 was when I published my first article and this is #702! I kicked off hour two with the most played track on the radio show and the Eurovision entry that gave my 'franchise' its name - "Let Me Be The One" by The Shadows. I also played three other songs that meant most to me over that first five years where LMBTO was solely this blog, as its content and direction changed when I started my radio career on August 7th 2018 (which isn't too far away now and that will be a 5th Anniversary).
Before that happens, we have two more shows - next week is 259, which will be the "Moments of 2023 Show". I have been asking for those from the Facebook Group and anyone listening to the show, and up to Sunday 23rd I have 18 songs that mean something to those contributing (from 20 fans of the show). Tune in on Tuesday to hear what has been selected - there is one artist chosen who has featured a lot this week too...
Now whoever could have worn that dress with that word on it
at The Turquoise Carpet / Opening Ceremony in Liverpool?
Listen to "Our Moments Of The 2023 Season" Show next week"!
