Patricia Bredin was the right choice
to open this week's LET ME BE THE
ONE.
Obituaries and tributes are unfortunately commonplace on LET ME BE THE ONE
from all over the Eurovision world but we haven't had a UK artist leave us
in the recent past. Patricia Bredin sung "All" in Frankfurt in 1957,
the first UK artist to do so, singing the first entry in English and up to
2015, the shortest song. She wasn't only a singer - she was a well
known actor and musical star, taking over from Julie Andrews at one point in
"Camelot". She ended her days in Canada after marrying a construction
magnate there - her experience at Eurovision is best summed up in this
interview:
The ultimate trailblazer for the UK at Eurovision - RIP Patricia. The rest of the show had a mix of music linked to the news of the week, some new releases plus the favourite Eurovision and National Final entries for three new members of the LMBTO Eurovision Facebook Group - click below to listen...

are the special guests at the OGAE UK Eurobash event at Camp & Furnace
in Liverpool on Saturday 7th October - it was a great opportunity to play
tracks from all three. Tickets are still available - OGAE UK members
have an email with the link to the event ticket page.
Show 263 is going to be a unique show as far as a theme is concerned - the
idea for it all started by a Tweet from Victoria, one of the members of the
LMBTO Eurovision Facebook Group:
People who did Eurovision that sounds fake when you tell locals:
— Victoria 💙 MALMÖ 2024 (@FolkloreRockRol) August 3, 2023
- Greta Thunberg's Mum
- Ronnie Mitchell from Eastenders
- Colin Firth's Portuguese housemaid from Love Actually
- Flo Rida
- A turkey puppet who is also a television presenter and 2 time presidential candidate
The people of Twitter/X were forthcoming, along with a couple of DMs I had from fans of the show directly, and I have quite a full show already next week! It is all about artists (and songs) that non-Eurovision fans would never believe were at the Eurovision Song Contest. You have the first five to think on already and they will open the show...
