We really knew for 3 weeks but it had to be announced officially...
Silia Kapsis IS the Cypriot artist for Eurovision 2024!
So the Australia-Cyprus link continues - like Andrew Lambrou for Liverpool,
Silia's paternal links to the Mediterranean nation have secured her a place
as a Eurovision artist next May. Of course, it isn't only that - she
has sung at high profile events in Australia, she is an accomplished dancer
and has written songs to go with the three tracks she has released over the
past year or so. Add to that being the lead in a short movie and also
a regular on Nickelodeon Australia, and we have an artist who is already
well grounded and capable of coping with the bubble that is
Eurovision. All at the age of 16 (she will be 17 in Malmö) and
her youthful enthusiasm shone through on Insta:
No idea what the song will be or when it will be released but we do know
that Dimitris Kontopoulos will be writing the song, his 14th Eurovision
entry for an 8th different nation! Judging by his previous songs, we
might be getting a hi-tempo banger ('Shady Lady', "This Is Our Night', 'You
Are The Only One', 'Last Dance' etc) and that would probably suit Silia
well. I'd also expect a dance break too - we have got used to those in
Liverpool! Silia kicked off this week's show - here is it to listen
to...

Poland has joined the 2024 party and so we have this running total from
those who have been to the Contest before:
35 YES to Sweden (assuming North Macedonia's Report = Eurovision);
6 NO (including the banned duo currently fighting Ukraine)
9 MAYBE (ARM/AUS/BUL/CZE/HUN/MON/MOR/ROM/TUR)
Chances are we won't know for certain anyone else until the final deadline
is reached where money has to be given over to confirm places
in Malmö.
As you could tell from the show, JESC is gearing up and we are now getting entries for Nice. Above are the entries for Ukraine's National Final that happens on Sunday 1st October - it is available to watch on YouTube and the winning song will be on next week's show.
As of Saturday 30th September, here are the available areas for ticket purchase at Het Grote Songfestivalfest 2023 and here is the link. Enjoy if you are going - I'm saving my money for a promo party or two and Eurovision 2024!

Noa Kirel at Eurovision in Liverpool...
I talked about this on the show purely for information purposes at the moment, rather than any endorsement, as we all know what happened last time someone tried to set up a Eurovision Convention! For what I can see, there is no harm in signing up for the Pre-Sale happening on October 5th but I will want a lot more information and reassurance it will go ahead before parting with any money!
As I said earlier, we are getting closer to JESC 2023 and show 269 will talk about not only the stage pictures of how Nice will look but also the host artist and entry:
Listen in next week to hear that entry on LET ME BE THE ONE!
