Another one of my 'Me and...' series of selfies, this time with the wonderful Katerine Duska after her gig at the Colours Hoxton in Shoreditch, London on 24th November 2019.  She had only completed her set ten minutes beforehand and she was happy to not only have the picture taken but also chat with me for "Let Me Be The One"!  You can hear that interview in this week's show, along with her new single "ANEMOS" that she has released together with Leon Of Athens, who accompanied her on stage for that track live:
I'll show you the best pictures and even a couple of videos I took at the gig later on but you must listen to the show where that really intriguing interview is:

And the playlist for show 69?

Obviously the show opens with the star of this week's episode and you got to hear her new track that only came out last Friday.  "One In A Million" is my favourite track of hers and that is why it 'bookends' her interview - that, and the fact that we really have heard "Better Love" a lot over the past six months!  I was also delighted to be able to play the one  available commercial release of Sandro Nicolas, the Cypriot representative for Rotterdam, along with Ira Losco's "7th Wonder" that, for me at least, seemed to fit in quite nicely with her wedding last weekend.  One more thing to mention about hour one this week - go back to the selfie at the top of the article.  See the chap unwittingly photobombing us both?  That is Rodney Maskell and by chance it was his "Why I Love It!" on the show this week!  I couldn't have planned that if I had tried.
The second hour is mainly filled by Melodifestivalen artists who are in the 2020 edition, the first half dozen Eesti Laul 2020 tracks plus the lady above with her new single "Monsters".  Tamara Todevska is one of the break-out stars on the international stage this year and it was a pleasure to be able to play her follow-up to "Proud".  As for MF and Eesti Laul, only 16 artists in Sweden and 18 entries in Estonia to go!  There is one more song that I'd direct you towards on this week's show and that would be the one at the end of the first hour from Guy Sebastian together with The HamilTones and Wale.  "Let Me Drink" is superb and so joyous - I guarantee that it will make you smile.

But you want some more content from the Katerine Duska gig, I hear you all cry.  Let's start with some pictures of her solo:
Her look was superb - hair tied back and the outfit that could only be described as tassely, feathery and of a hue that it allowed all the stage colours to illuminate it without losing the impact of either!  She sung a full set, the specifics of which I struggled to remember but my ESC Fan TV colleague Tristán White, who also writes for the blog GIGsoup, noted most of them down in his excellent review.  "Better Love" was the song to close the show:

And that, along with "One In A Million", is why I traveled into London on a Sunday in November to watch her perform:

Absolutely incredible and I would go as far to say that Katerine's gig was one of my musical highlights of 2019.  As I said on the show, if comes back to the UK to perform, she is a 'must watch' - totally transfixing on stage, those vocals hold you spellbound and she is such a lovely person to chat with too!
That is it for my travels and Eurovision events for 2019 - next stop will almost certainly be Eurofest on January 10th but I have no idea who will be playing there!  Oh, what a total Eurovision obsessive I have become...

Next week's show is number 70 and fingers crossed I MIGHT have an interview with Holly Tandy.  She was busy in panto rehearsals this week so I think that chatting with her off-air, pre-recording that and then playing it on the show might be the only way of our paths crossing.  There will definitely be more songs from those artists at this year's MF, more entries from Eesti Laul and more new releases, including one from this lady:
Miruna Manescu, for the moment performing as RUNA, has collaborated with Tostogan and Kaira in Romania and produced a new song called "Cantec pentru tara" and it will be on next week's show.  There is already more news from Rotterdam but that can wait for next Tuesday - it has provided me with another song choice though, admittedly one that has already been on the show.  Look at the picture below - one of these three people who are going to be hosting the Contest in Rotterdam have already sung at Eurovision twice  before and I will be playing one of their songs:
Have a guess as to who that might be!
