Queen Elizabeth II has passed away.
The one tribute LET ME BE THE ONE could make
was to celebrate her reign with Eurovision songs...

Show 214 did go ahead at its usual time and day (Tuesday 8pm BST) but it was a unique show, nonetheless.  September 13th was the first day where programming on Bradley Stoke Radio returned to some sort of normality, but a request was made to play material appropriate for the period of mourning.  Those of you who have already heard the show will know that applied to this week's show, together with a major link to what has been happening...

And the playlist:

"SPACE MAN" (Platinum Jubilee edit) - Sam Ryder
"Here I Stand" - VASIL
"My Friend" - Jacques Houdek
"Made Of Stars" - Hovi Star
"I Am Yours" - The Makemakes
"Kuula" - Ott Lepland
"Questa Notte" - Bonaparti.lv
"Light A Candle" - Sarit Hadad
"Love Shine A Light" - Katrina and the Waves
"Libera" - Mia Martini
"I Love The Little Things" - Matt Munro
"Free Your Heart" - Edyta Górniak & Tomek Torres
"Duett" - Elisabeth Andreasson and Jan Werner Danielsen
"Dag efter dag" - Chips
"Rock 'n' Roll Kids" - Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigan
"Lights Off" - We Are Domi
"La Estrella Azul" - Chanel
"Un premier amour" - Isabelle Aubret
"Always" - AySel and Arash
"Korbag" - Samira Said
"Midsummer Love" - Måns Zelmerlöw
"occhi grandi grandi" - Francesca Michielin
"(mrok) Warszawianka" - Michał Szpak
"Głośniej" - Roxie
"Pride Parade" - Julia Alfrida

As you can see from the first hour (songs 1-12), we have a lot of soothing ballads from Eurovision, as befitting linking them to positive moments in the Queen's reign.  After that, the mood picks up but it is not inappropriate material - hopefully you agree with that!  Two items that regularly appear here did continue this week...
AySel & Arash with "Always" is LMBTO Eurovision Facebook Group new member Abelone Mnm's favourite ever Eurovision entry...
And these guys (minus me) were the winner's of the Czech Republic poll for the LMBTO's Nation FavouriteWe Are Domi won by a very long way - 50% of the vote for ELEVEN entries:
25 votes for 2022, 7 for 2015 which was next up, just to give you some sort of idea of the size of the win.  Dominika, Ben and Casper were incredibly popular wherever they went and one of the more interesting artists to interview this year.  Next week's poll will be the songs from Montenegro, so keep voting - 50 votes was the highest so far, let's see if we can beat that next week!
I mentioned the British Film Institute presentations relating to Eurovision 1962 (scene above) and a session about Eurovision in general on October 22nd.  The links to the individual sessions are here:

The joint tickets hopefully will be available next Tuesday - hopefully I may well see you there in a month's time!  Moving onto next week's show 215, there will be plenty of news given that there was no focus on that on Tuesday's show.  One item will relate to one of the performers from Turin who also performed at Baku...
You'll find out how Ihan Haydar fits in to it all
when you listen to next week's LET ME BE THE ONE!
