Poor Valentina - missing out in the year that everyone thought she'd get to the Final...
At least she won the LMBTO's Nation Favourite poll!

It was a close run thing but Valentina Monetta's 2013 entry, "Crisalide (Vola)", won the latest poll for San Marino by one vote:
That of course meant that the song kicked off hour two of this week's show...

About half of the show was new material from the class of 2022, whether that be from Eurovision itself or from the artists at National Finals - starting the show were two JESC tracks, the first one responsible for this new theme:
All based around the spinning top that is such a popular toy around the world but particularly in Armenia - the neon give it a colourful modern twist, although the white lighting around the venue itself makes that the most impressive part of the promo video...

We are starting to get entries for JESC 2022 now - if they are released already, they will appear on the show now.  Chances are that some, like Poland where the song only appears at the National Final at the final round, will have to wait until the official playlist comes out on streaming sites and CD.
The above picture tells the story of why Lulu and Sonia found themselves on the show - the shortlist of seven cities has been reduced to the final two.  Glasgow or Liverpool will be the host city for Eurovision 2023 and by the sounds of it, a decision might not be too far away, with the initial visit by the EBU/BBC having taken place at the end of the week.  There is going to be another visit this week coming, so who knows?  We might have a city in place by the time Eurobash happens on Saturday 8th October!  I will keep you informed on next week's show, where I will be telling you what happened when I went to London on Wednesday - not only did this guy sing in St. Pancras Station:
But I also got to see this lady perform...
Show 217 will not only have the news of the week, the Armenian winner of LMBTO's Nation Favourite, along with new material from the stars of Eurovision - it will also have songs from Sam Ryder, Cornelia Jakobs and a possible star in the making who supported her at Colours Hoxton...

Join me next week on LET ME BE THE ONE
to find out who that was!
