It is the Eurovision Equinox!
(in more ways than one)...

It is now Saturday 19th November 2022 - 189 days since KALUSH ORCHESTRA picked up the Eurovision trophy in Turin and 161 days until the likely first rehearsal day of the 2023 Eurovision fortnight in Liverpool (29th April)!  We have gone past the 'equinox day', hence the picture of Bulgaria's supergroup in 2018, musically portrayed on the show by Johnny Manuel with a new track from his debut EP that kicked off this week's show:

And the rest of the playlist?

"The Others" - Johnny Manuel
"Tornerò" - MIHAI
"Viagem" - Isaura
"Realizo" - Circus Mircus ft Blolbrst & Tato Rusia
"Noch mehr" - voXXclub
"We Got Love" - Jessica Mauboy
"Kërkoj" - Eneda Tarifa
"Solas" - Sophie Lennon
"Ay Mamá" - Rigoberta Bandini
"Sekret" - Ronela Hajati
"Hey Mamma!" - Sunstroke Project
"Amar Pelos Dois" - Salvador Sobral
"Fairytale" - Alexander Rybak
"Bye Bye" - Carla
"Det börjar verka kärlek, banne mig" - Claes-Göran Hederström
"Sámiid ædnan" - Sverre Kjelsberg and Mattis Hætta
"Ik ben verliefd (Sha-la-lie)" - Sieneke
"Fuego" - Eleni Foureira
"Mysterious" - Hooverphonic
"Insomnia" - Luka
"Danger" - Levina
"Selini" - Yianna Terzi

Let's deal with the fan favourites to start with - two classics this week:
Salvador Sobral's "Amar Pelos Dois" for Alexandros; and
Alexander Rybak with "Fairytale" for Gerry.  As for the Moldovan poll of LMBTO's Nation Favourite?
Not a landslide this time but a solid victory for Sunstroke Project's excellent 2017 hit "Hey Mamma!", ahead of ZSZ's current offering and...Sunstroke Project!  Votes across the board again - how will Ukraine's vote pan out this coming week?
There were more points flying around at the Second Cherry Final that I attended on Friday 11th, leading to Rigoberta Bandini with "Ay Mamá" topping the table, despite being second to Anna Sahlene with "Champion" in the venue (Jury votes) and second to Italy's La rappresentante di lista with "Ciao Ciao" with the online televote.  It was a popular win among some fans in the Royal Vauxhall Tavern - the part of Eurofest evening that was popular with EVERYBODY in the room was the set by the special guest.  And I thought that KEiiNO night was heaving:
All there to see Ronela Hajati and what a set she gave us!  Some pictures I took on the night...
And then one outside after the show:
A lovely lady, a superb performer and someone who deserved better from her Eurovision experience but just went down the wrong route as far as staging was concerned - the difference between a Final Q and DNQ in my opinion.  If you ever have the opportunity to see Ronela perform, do so!  Thank goodness her passport and visa came through in time - lord knows who we would have ended up with!
I mentioned KEiiNO before and they have just released a new track that will be on Show 224.  It will be linked into the latest Eurovision promo party to have its date released - the London Eurovision Party.  I'll tell you more next show, but hopefully I will have more news to report on from JESC that is only THREE WEEKS away!  We have had a live performance to watch from Freya Skye and we do know who the JESC hosts are going to be...
Each of them have been involved with JESC and Eurovision...
You'll hear how on next week's show!
