Not much left of 2022 but there is one major event to complete (not including the fan favourite ESC Top 250 on New Year's Eve!) - JESC 2022 happens on Sunday 11th December and this week's show completed the list of 16 entries plus the LMBTO poll for the show too.  Have a listen and find out more about that in hour two, which almost became 'JESC hour':

Yes, it was the United Kingdom's Freya Skye all the way:
13 out of 31 votes - thank you so much to everyone who voted - this radio show has been gradually embracing the Junior event over the years since it started, as have I.  When I began the blog that led to the radio show back in 2013, I had absolutely no interest in the Junior version and it really took 6 years before I actually watched my first Contest back in 2019.  You can thank this artist for igniting the JESC 'flame':
Carla's "Bim Bam Toi" for France in 2019 was, and still is, so incredibly infectious, plus it showed me that this wasn't a competition full of children singing like children.  The contests since have all had entries that have appealed to a adult ear and that is why the Junior version of Eurovision has been gradually getting more air time on LET ME BE THE ONE.  You will have noticed that this year had the JESC news talked about throughout the season as it happened for the first time, rather than just having a review of the Final itself.  How that develops for 2023 I don't know, but we have the 2022 Final to deal with first!  On Sunday we will have this running order to enjoy:
I will not attempt to do any sort of review about who this is good for - I will be sitting back and enjoying the show on BBC1!  Pre-rehearsals, here is my top ten for JESC 2022, based purely on the official videos:
It was a very close call between my top two but I have heard both sung live now, and Zlata's emotional delivery shades it for me.  I am not going to be unhappy if Freya wins the trophy for the first time for the UK though!  Sunday afternoon will be when it all happens and you can guarantee that next week's show will kick off with the winning song from whichever nation...
Talking of winning songs, one of the new members of the LMBTO Eurovision Facebook Group has Bucks Fizz and "Making Your Mind Up" as their all-time favourite entry - thank you to Paul for recommending that track!  There were three other new members who had songs played in the show:
"Occidentali's Karma" by Francesco Gabbani for Clare...
Kati Wolf's "What About My Dreams?" for Jason...
And "I treni di Tozeur" by Alice & Franco Battiato for Andrew.  Great choices from all - hope you enjoyed listening to them and the rest of the show.  Two of the new members also have National Final favourites to play but as this week's show was so packed, they will be played on show 227.  The reasons for so much happening in the Eurovision world at the moment?  Let's start in Ukraine:
As soon as JESC has finished, we will only be six days away from knowing who will represent Ukraine, effectively the host nation, in Liverpool and also having the first complete entry for Eurovision 2023.  Above is the running order for Vidbir 2023 and you have heard three of the entries so far - fingers crossed that we have the remaining seven to play for you next week!  The next nation's songs will not be heard until night one and two of their five day extravaganza in February:
At least we know who the Sanremo 22 'Big Artists' are - in about ten days time, we will have six additional acts from the Giovani section to add to that list.  I can't imagine that I'll have the stamina to watch any of the five nights in their complete form but judging by the names above, it looks like we'll have yet another class act representing Italy next year in Liverpool.  Same could be said of Sweden - we have the lists for each SF in Melodifestivalen:

Semifinal #1
Victor Crone – Diamonds
Rejhan – Haunted
Loulou LaMotte – Inga sorger
Eva Rydberg and Ewa Roos – Länge leve livet
Elov and Beny – Raggen går
Tone Sekelius – Rhythm of my show
Jon Henrik Fjällgren, Arc north feat. Adam Woods – Where are you (Savecan)

Semifinal #2
Wiktoria – All my life (Where have you been)
 Eden – Comfortable
Uje Brandelius – Grytan
Theoz – Mer av dig
Maria Sur – Never give up
Tennessee tears – Now I know
Panetoz – On my way

Semifinal #3
Marcus & Martinus – Air
Melanie Wehbe – For The Show
Ida-Lova – Låt Hela Stan Se På
Paul Rey – Royals
Nordman – Släpp Alla Sorger
Laurell – Sober
Casanovas – Så Kommer Kanslorna Tillbaka

Semifinal #4
Signe & Hjördis – Edelweiss
Axel Schylström – Gorgeous
Emil Henrohn – Mera Mera Mera
Mariette – One Day
Smash Into Pieces – Six Feet Under
Loreen – Tattoo
Kiana – Where Did You Go

The above is NOT a running order for each SF - remember that Melodifestivalen is strictly based on the song, not the artist, so those song titles are in alphabetical order.  I mean, they aren't going to get Loreen back and NOT give her the 'pimp slot', are they?  We won't know who sings where in Sweden until February at the earliest or what any of these songs sound like - Estonia have that already sorted.  Here is each Eesti Laul SF entry plus their videos...

Semi-Final 1
Andreas – ‘Why Do You Love Me’
Anett x Fredi – ‘You Need To Move On’
Bedwetters – ‘Monsters’
Ellip – ‘Pretty Girl'
Janek – ‘House Of Glass'
kaw – ‘Valik’
MERLYN – ‘Unicorn Vibes’
MIA – ‘Üks samm korraga’
Neon Letters & Maiko – ‘Tokimeki’
Ollie – ‘Venom’

Semi-Final 2
Alika – ‘Bridges’
Carlos Ukareda – ‘Whiskey Won’t Forget’
Elysa – ‘Bad Philosophy’
Inger – ‘Awaiting You’
Linalakk, Bonzo – ‘Aeg’
m els – ‘So Good At What You Do’
Meelik – ‘Tuju’
Robin Juhkental – ‘Kurbuse matused’
Sissi – ‘Lighthouse’
Wiiralt – ‘Salalik’

A lot of the Eesti Laul entries are out already, so you will hear those on the show, hopefully in time for the SFs that are mid January.
Yet another beautiful picture by Corrine Cummings of the EBU from JESC 2022 - that is the trophy that one act will have their hands on by the end of Sunday's Final.  Whoever that may be, that entry will be opening show 227 of LET ME BE THE ONE next Tuesday - if either of these singers win JESC 2022, I will be delighted...
Might we have the same nation winning ESC and JESC in 2022?
Could we have the same 1-2 as we did in Turin?
Watch Sunday's Junior Eurovision Song Contest to find out!
