Summer songs are flavour of the month at the moment...
Albina leads off the seasonal section of this week's show!

After one of my most enjoyable episodes last week, interviewing Laura Rizzotto, we are back with the usual mix of news and new releases that you all have come to love from LET ME BE THE ONE.  We have a summery second hour with a track from someone who performed at each of the Scandinavian summer music series (Lotta på Liseberg, Allsång på Skansen and Allsang på Grensen), plus music that put me in the mood from five singers immediately afterwards.  Have a listen to the show (by the way, if you listened live online, apologies for the less than perfect sound quality, there is currently a system issue that needs sorting)...

And those who were on it?  Just in case you didn't catch it:

"The Ride" - Clara Rubensson
"Without Your Love" - André
"The Start" - Gaia Cauchi
"Podigni glas (Raise Your Voice)" - Darija Vračević
"Open Your Heart" - Birgitta
Eurostarz 2021 Promo
"Lost And Found" - Eye Cue
"Storm" - SuRie
"Why Angels Cry" - Annet Artani
"La chica que yo quiero (Made in Spain)" - La Decada Prodigiosa
"Ti si moja prva ljubav" - Dino Jelusić
"Nedoslavyanka" (live) - Manizha ft Fardi
"Dag efter dag" - Chips
"I Do" - Arvingarna
"MONUMENT" - KEiiNO
"Telika i zoi sinehizetai" - Elena Tsagrinou & Dimitris Tatarakis
"La La Love" - Albina
"No Regrets" - Vanilla Ninja
"Summer Dream" (long play edit) - Thomas Forstner
"Summer Summer" - Carla
"Quelqu'un pour toi" - Madame Monsieur
"Muhammad" - Vanessa Amorosi
"Everchanging Times" - Trijntje Oosterhuis & Metropole Orkest
"Let Me Be The One" - The Shadows

Along with the summer songs, we had the opportunity to watch the HD showing of the 2006 Eurovision Final last Saturday - I played Armenia's debut entry on LET ME BE THE ONE and that was the final entry in that year's running order.  It was well worth the watch to see that technology come into play:

Yes, you can see the difference between HD and SD here - there seemed to be about three cameras fitted with the technology upgrade, so if your act required tight camera angles and no sweeping audience shots, it looked amazing (for 2006 standards).  I have to say that this was the only way that I would watch an old Eurovision in its entirety, as I have seen all the songs again from 1956 through to 2021!  The SF acts that didn't make the Final may be published at some point too...
Only ten days to go and there are still tickets available for the two London events coming up on Saturday 14th and Friday 20th August.  If you want to see all of the five artists above at The Water Rats in Kings Cross, London on 14th (I have yet to see Niamh sing live), here is the link for Eurostarz:

I will be there and will be delighted to say hi to anyone who listens to the show and/or reads the blog that I haven't met yet.  Apologies in advance if I don't recognise you immediately from your social media picture!  As for Eurofest on 20th:
Yes, SuRie is the guest of honour!  Unfortunately I won't be able to make this one, partly due to the closeness to Eurostarz six days before which would mean travel/hotel from Bristol again, and partly that I have seen her perform NINE times already.  She will be amazing as always, it will be a great show and I am surprised that there are still tickets available here...

Enjoy one of the funniest and talented performers around - if logistics allow, this is a must-do.  Another must-do is watching the acts who were on Lotta på Liseberg last week - Eric Saade, Tess Merkel, Kikki Danielsson, Hanna Ferm and of course Lotta Enberg!  What a line-up and here is the link to the tv show's site:

Good news for Hanna - no footwear issues this season as compared to 2020!  Hats off to Tess for performing "Crying At The Discoteque" as the lead and effectively on her own, and also to Lotta, helping Kikki out with "Dag efter dag" with the Chips duet.  It was a great show to watch and of the three Scandi summer shows, 'Lotta' is my favourite - both that and 'Skansen' have two weeks to go on their 2021 runs.
Show 156 may be when we have a better idea of the real 'runners and riders' for the host city for Eurovision 2022 - what we have already is the change of flag in the Heart logo.  A month to go to the official start of the new season but that simple swap to the colours of Måneskin sort of makes it all very real.  If the next stage actually happens over the next seven days, there can only be one act to kick off the show...
Tune in to next week's show to see if we have a better idea
about where these guys will be playing as the real stars of the show!
