It has been such a long time!
My first live Eurovision gig since January 2020...
Eurostarz 2021 will be a blast!

Not long to wait now - this Saturday will see me watching these five great singers at The Water Rats in Kings Cross.  Given the number of Eurovision events I have been to over the past six years, it is probably not surprising that I have seen most of them sing live already (Nicki at London Eurovision Parties, Ray at Eurobash, Eye Cue at Eurovision/LEP/Eurofest and Michael at Eurovision/Eurobash).  I am really looking forward to seeing Niamh sing live for the first time, but having such talent to watch and listen to is a dream come true, and I hope to see lots of you who are regulars to the radio show and blog there too!  Michael and Nicki got their play on the show this week - have a catch-up/replay:

And the others on the show?

Actual news is becoming very sparse at the moment, given that August is always the 'calm before the storm' of September 1st (Eurovision New Year), so it was nice to be able to flag up Eurostarz (as I have been doing for the past three weeks as well) plus the ongoing Scandi events in Sweden and Norway, along with the new eurovision.tv publication "Douze Points".  The other big event coming up, especially for us OGAE UK members, is this one...
The Special Guests this year?

James Newman
Lesley Roy
Guy Freeman

So that is four Eurovision songs on the bill (My Last Breath, Embers, Story Of My Life and Maps) plus a very entertaining interview session to be had.  We will have James and Lesley viewing Eurovision from the perspective of a singer, plus Guy who was Show Producer in 1998 and former HoD for the UK and who, I am sure, will give a lot of interesting information about his time at Eurovision.  Lots of other activities on throughout Saturday October 2nd IF you have a ticket - unfortunately the event is now SOLD OUT.  It might be worth contacting the organisers to see if there is a waiting list, just in case tickets get returned.
There were loads of Maneki-neko in Lisbon, not only in the club I went to with my Swedish friends Rebecka and Philip after the Jury Final, but also on stage with Netta when she performed "Toy".  Why do I mention this now?  It is because that song was the first one played on show 1 of LET ME BE THE ONE on August 7th 2018...

Yes, THREE YEARS AGO (plus three days)!

I totally forgot when in August the anniversary of my radio show was, until this week's show had finished - mention of that should have been this week but never mind, show 157 on 17th August 2021 can be 3 years plus ten days, can't it!  I will also be announcing a new Facebook group that I will be, over the next few weeks, inviting all you regular fans to join - this will allow:

Telling you when the show is on, the Mixcloud is published and these article are available
Finding out your favourite Eurovision entries when you join to play on the show
And expanding your involvement in the show (how is yet to be determined)

There is one other quirky recent event that had a close relationship to a song on next week's show:
How do these gymnasts...
And this Eurovision entry link together?

Listen to next week's show to find out!
